We realize that it can be very difficult to open up about your struggles with anxiety and/or depression.

You may have tried or are currently under the care of a psychiatrist, therapist, MD or Group Support Program.

Do you have family and friends trying to understand and support you in the best possible way, while you continue to struggle despite some help from this care?

Whatever the method, our naturopathic doctors (ND) can help you discover the true underlying cause(s) of your mood disorder and help treat those causes using safe, effective, natural medicine that can be used as an alternative or in conjunction with conventionally prescribed medications and methods such as: anti-depressants, tranquilizers, sleep aids and therapy.

Our ND’s are not only medically trained to treat mental illness, we are professionally invested in helping you achieve a better state of mind, contentment and long term wellness, because we know first hand the impact mood problems have on one’s life and relationships.

We anticipate the mental & emotional challenges you may face along your journey toward understanding why you feel the way you do and how to “fix it”.

We also understand how challenging it has been for you to be open & honest about how you are feeling. In fact, you might be so overwhelmed at times that you do not even know how you are feeling!

Naturopathic doctors are medically trained and naturally focused, utilizing several safe, natural and yet powerful techniques to help you break free from anxiety and depression, overcome addictions and strengthen your mind and body.

Your treatment plan will be personalized – tailored to your specific health requirements and life circumstances.

What To Expect:

Your Better Mood Program consists of eight to twelve naturopathic visits scheduled every seven to fourteen days.

Prior to Your First Naturopathic Visit:

Email or call the clinic to book your first appointment.

At that time you will receive a Health Evaluation Form and Your Better Mood Program Folder.

Your first visit will be 1 to 1.5 hours.

This appointment will include: A Thorough Health History, Indicated Physical Exam, Lab Work, and identification of your short-term and long- term health goals.

Your second visit will be 1 hr in length, scheduled one to two weeks following your first visit (depending on timing for lab work/testing to be received by clinic).

At this appointment your naturopathic doctor will review your lab work with you, which will help determine some of the factors contributing to your mood problems.

Your ND will then prescribe the initial naturopathic treatments that will begin to alleviate your anxiety and depression, while helping you regain health and wellness in body and mind.

Your third visit will be 30 to 45 minutes in length, scheduled one to two weeks following your second visit.

At this appointment your ND will review with you, how you are feeling with the treatment prescribed during visit two and help you overcome any obstacles you may having.

Your ND will also initiate a more active treatment strategy with the aim of helping you achieve further improvement in your mood, while aiming to help you succeed in reaching your short term and long term health goals.

For example, your ND may recommend a series of acupuncture treatments, while providing some: Lifestyle Guidance including: Nutrition, Movement or Exercise, Rest, Meditation and Mindfulness Training as well as prescribe a Natural Supplement, Herbal or Homeopathic Medicine.

Visit four through ten will be 30 to 45 minutes in length, scheduled one to two weeks following the previous visit.

Note: The length of time between your naturopathic visits will be determined by the degree of mental illness, the amount of support provided by other allied health care practitioners & your body’s general response to the naturopathic treatments provided, e.g. response to acupuncture and other natural treatments.

By Week 10: some patients may be considering tapering their prescribed anti-depressants and sleep aids.

A drug tapering program will be planned if:

  • It is one of the patient’s identified goals.
  • The naturopathic doctor in collaboration with the patient’s psychiatrist, MD or other allied health care physician agrees that it would be safe and effective for the patient to taper medications.

To assess the safety and viability of an anti-depressant or sleep aid (or other drug) tapering program, your ND will consider the following factors:

The Drug (Medication) Phamacokinetics:

  • The dose, frequency and duration of medication use by the patient.
  • The drugs’ half-life, route of detoxification and metabolism.
  • The drugs known toxicity, side effects and adverse reactions.
  • The patient’s experience with medication side effects, adverse reactions and toxicity, which may be a possible cause of debility, ill health or decreased quality of life.

The Patient:

  • Degree of mental health.
  • Response to naturopathic treatments provided and compliance.
  • Assessment of the patient’s mood, mental stability, life circumstances, support network, self care abilities, self- awareness & daily functioning.
  • A patient interview will be conducted to asses the viability of a medication tapering program.

Program Logistics:

Your Better Mood Program consists of eight to twelve naturopathic visits scheduled every seven to fourteen days, depending on your needs.

View the naturopathic medicine fee schedule, where all our appointment and service fees are listed. Program fee is approximately $400-$800.

  • Lab tests, prescribed supplements, herbal and homeopathic medicines are charged separately.
  • Method of Payment: VISA, MASTERCARD, DEBIT, CASH OR CHEQUE.

  • Please note that non-emergency missed or re-scheduled appointments with less than 24 hours notice will be charged a fee of $85.00.

INSURANCE COVERAGE:

    • Most Extended Health Care Plans cover naturopathic consult fees and naturopathic testing, but do not cover prescribed natural medicines. Please check your health plan.
  • At the end of each visit you will receive an invoice from us that insurance providers accept.

WHEN & HOW TO BOOK YOUR NATUROPATHIC VISITS:

    • After your second visit, your ND will help you book your next session(s), which will typically be scheduled seven to fourteen days apart and consist primarily of acupuncture, nutrition, rest, movement or exercise, meditation guidance and mindfulness training. In addition to general counselling about any life (external or internal) stress you may be experiencing.
    • Consistent and regular follow-ups, scheduled seven to fourteen days apart, lead to the best clinical results, while helping you reach a better state of health in body and mind in a step by step fashion.
  • Our ND’s bill per time used (Our FEE SCHEDULE shows our ND visit/hourly rates).
